Yoforia Goes Green... Tea

Green Tea Returns to Yoforia

Yoforia has the green tea flavor again, after many months of absence. Of course, that won't be exciting news for most of you. I think I'm the only person that likes Yoforia's green tea froyo.

I bugged Yoforia a billion times when they removed it the first time. But they said not many people liked it; so they replaced it with vanilla. After several days of persistance, they brought it back a second time, and I took every chance to eat it. After a while, they replaced it with vanilla again due to green tea's unpopularity. When that happened, I thought I would never see the green tea flavor again.

Lo and behold, when I walked in, I saw my beloved green tea flavor. I felt like I was meeting an old friend. I don't know why I like green tea so much. I guess it's because I'm Asian.

That's right, Green Tea is back with a vengeance!
The Other Flavors, They Taste Good Too

Yoforia offers both tart and non-tart flavors. I personally like the non-tart flavors since I like ice cream. But I appreciate and like the tarty flavors as well.

A lot of people I talked to only go for the tarty froyo. They like it because it actually tastes like yogurt, not ice cream. They also say it tastes healthier. Others just prefer it, and that's cool.

I don't think it matters if it tastes healthy or not, it's still yogurt whether if has a tart or not tart flavor. Besides, adding layers of candies, chocolates, and other unhealthy toppings won't make it any healthier.

Besides green tea–my favorite flavor–Yoforia offers a lot of other non-tart flavors. They offer unique ones such as taro, peanut butter, green tea, vanilla, Ferrero Rocher, cookies and cream, and others. I just love how unhealthy and sweet they taste. If I want dessert, I want something that tastes as unhealthy as possible. These non-tart flavors do the job well.

Yoforia provides these tarty flavors: original, which has a slight lemony taste; pomegranate, which actually tastes like other froyo shop's original; mango; and others. I can't remember the rest of the tarty flavors since I don't pay attention to them. I can get tarty froyo everywhere, so I lean towards the non-tart flavors when I go to Yoforia.

A lot of froyo connoisseurs don't seem to like the quality of Yoforia's yogurt. Come on, I don't think it's that bad. Sure, it might be slightly more icy than Pinkberry's or Yogurberry's, but it seems good enough. I do love very creamy froyo, and Yoforia isn't one of the more creamy froyos out there. I don't care though. I find it creamy enough for me.

The Toppings–Adding Depth and Calories to Your Froyo

After you fill your cup with any flavor (or combination of flavors) you want, you get to load them with toppings. You can choose from various candies like Reese's Peanut Butter cups, Oreos, Butterfingers, and other sugary goodnesses. You can even get those high-gi cereals like Fruity Pebbles and Captain Crunch.

If you want to go for a more healthy version of the toppings, you can add fruits. They offer pineapple, mochi, candied cherries (probably not that healthy, but good), lychees, mangos, and so on. They also have have various syrups you can pour on your froyo as well.

Final Thoughts

I go to the Vinings location often. Vinings' Yoforia is self serve (so is Brookhaven's and Midtown's). So you pay by the ounce. It can get quite expensive if you're not careful. I think I paid over $10 there before.

I love Yoforia and have always been a fan since the beginning. My respect for them did go down when they got rid of green tea, but now it's back... for now. Now I need to go back there often before they take green tea away from me again. Mr. Kitty gives Vinings Yoforia 5 paws up.
